We are University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka graduates permanently living in the UK and elsewhere and their well-wishers who have joined together as Pera Helping Hands (PHH) according to an agreed constitution.
After the COVID pandemic, Peradeniya UK alumni hosted the annual Nathikkarai get together in September 2022. Many social issues and problems surfaced around this time and we realised how the collective talents and experience of the Pera alumni can be used to address such social issues. We soon got together, formulated our constitution and started working as PHH. Our objective is to make PHH a platform through which Pera alumni and their well-wishers can implement projects efficiently to create lasting positive changes in society.
PHH operates on a solely voluntary basis, to uplift the socio-economic status of the Sri Lankan community in UK and in Sri Lanka by facilitating and/or providing support, where the support provided can be advisory and/or funding in any of the following areas, but not limited to:
• Education
• Career
• Health
• Economy
• Environment
• Culture
We aim to help our fellow people to live as healthy, happy and productive members of society in UK and Sri Lanka.
PHH returns non-monetary value to its members as well - experience of functioning as part of and running a group, career guidance, access to useful workshops, support from like-minded group of people, forming friendships, managing stress, satisfaction in exploiting their educational and work experience to the betterment of the community, etc. The power of PHH is the collective knowledge, experience and connection of its members. Your small acts can help create a big positive change. Join us.
